Carl Wilson Stands With Working People
On Community and Leadership
Carl Wilson is a trusted community leader with deep roots across District 3 — from Hell’s Kitchen and Chelsea to the West Village. A longtime resident and co-founder of the Hell’s Kitchen Democrats, Carl has spent years building coalitions, organizing neighbors, and tackling local issues block by block. Whether standing up for tenants or advancing long-overdue park improvements, Carl leads by listening first and delivering results.
On Public Safety
For Carl, safety means smart prevention and responsible enforcement. He supports strong gun safety laws and commonsense measures to keep illegal firearms off our streets, while ensuring local law enforcement has the resources they need to protect residents. Carl believes public safety also includes safer street design, traffic enforcement, and community-based solutions that make every neighborhood in District 3 feel secure and supported.
On Affordability and Union Jobs
Carl knows that affordability starts with stable housing and strong paychecks. He has fought in City Hall to protect tenants, secure critical neighborhood funding, and keep longtime residents in their homes. As Council Member, he will push for real solutions to the housing crisis while championing strong union jobs that allow working families to thrive. Carl believes building and preserving affordable housing must go hand in hand with creating union careers that sustain our communities.
On Arts and LGBTQ+ Community
District 3 is home to some of the city’s most vibrant arts institutions and one of the largest LGBTQ+ communities in the country. As a former actor and longtime West Side resident, Carl understands how central the arts are to our local economy and identity. He is committed to supporting cultural organizations, protecting creative spaces, and ensuring District 3 remains a welcoming, inclusive home for LGBTQ+ New Yorkers.
